The new director of the Mexico City Metro is Adrián Rubalcava, who was involved in rumors of a possible romance with Sandra Cuevas, but these were quickly dispelled. The story between Rubalcava and Cuevas seemed promising, with interactions on social media and photos embracing, which fueled speculation. They even recreated a scene from Titanic during an event in Cuajimalpa and organized a Christmas Posada together at the Cuauhtémoc Mayor’s Office at the end of 2023.
However, Sandra Cuevas put an end to the speculation during a press conference in December of the same year, making it clear that her relationship with Rubalcava was strictly friendship. Despite acknowledging a mutual physical attraction, Cuevas insisted that they were simply friends and that they were only supporting each other in their respective political careers.
Adrián Rubalcava, now director of the CDMX Metro, is a politician with an extensive background. Graduated in Law from Anáhuac University and holding a Master's in Public Administration, Rubalcava has held various positions within the PRI and has been mayor of Cuajimalpa for two terms. He also had a seat in the Chamber of Deputies in 2015. His appointment as Metro director comes during Clara Brugada's administration in Mexico City.
Despite the initial speculation about a romance between Sandra and Rubalcava, Cuevas herself denied any kind of romantic relationship in an interview with host Adela Micha, where she made it clear that Rubalcava is just a friend to her. Although she acknowledged the connection they had, she emphasized that their relationship was based on friendship and mutual respect. Rubalcava, for his part, has maintained his focus on his political work and his new role as director of the CDMX Metro.
